Oil is the result of a process that has been ongoing for millions of years, and during which organic substances were transformed into liquid hydrocarbons. Under the influence of micro-organisms, pressure, heat and mineral catalysts, a viscous substances evolved that collected in the earth in deposits: oil.

Oil fired power stations play an important role in our power station park always then if we have to deal with a quick balancing of fluctuations, for instance during wind power feed. They thus have to cover the peak load. Light fuel oil can also be used to fire our gas turbine power stations. The great advantage offered by these power stations is that, as so-called „quick starters“, they are able to yield their full output in a short space of time.
