The Trick is in the Mix
Energy from wind, sun or water power – can’t these cover the entire power requirement?
Today, renewable energies make up a portion of 14 percent of power generation. There is a reason for that. After all, wind and sun are not always available to the extent to which we require electricity.
Even if investments for renewable energies were upgraded, it would not be possible to cover the entire power requirement at justifiable costs and with the necessary security of supply. Coal, gas and oil fired power stations are necessary to safely and reliably make available the required energy. Thus, conventional power stations never compete with renewable energies. All energy sources are part of the energy mix. Together they contribute to us getting what we desire – a reliable, economical and environmentally conscious power supply.
