New Construction Requirement

New Construction Requirement

Acting in good time

By the year 2030, an estimated 40,000 megawatts of power generating capacity will be lost in Germany. The reason for this is that many power stations will by then have reached the technical and economic end of their operating time. This also applies to a part of the E.ON Kraftwerke power station park. If in addition to this the phasing out of nuclear energy will indeed be implemented, this figure would be increased by another 20,000 megawatt hours.

Already now, we are busy developing solutions to face this challenge and are planning several new power stations. Using the latest technology, these emerging plants will set new standards for energy efficiency and climate protection Europe-wide.

However, the billions of investments required for this presuppose a stable political framework in the long-term. What is of importance is a reliable concept for the power utilities’ future and for climate political requirements. Only once this basis has been established will it be possible to invest in new processes ensuring lasting security of supply.
