Responsibility starts with being concerned. About the worldwide increasing power demand. About the use of resources. About an increase in efficiency. About the people to whom we supply our power. And of course about the people who work jointly with us on these issues. It is our claim to responsibly and openly take our thoughts further already at an early stage – for a safe future.

Growth is just as important to us as preserving that which already exists. We have taken on a lot in this respect – Europe-wide. However, we never want to lose sight of the fact that our power stations are the basis of our business and at the same time the basis for a secure supply. Safely and reliably supplying people with electricity at any time, this task forms the basis of our actions.

However, the social responsibility we see extends even further: we must keep an open mind for all available energy technologies. A major role in this regard will be assumed by the power stations producing electricity from coal and gas. With a share of more than 50 percent in Europe’s power supply, the fossil energy sources will continue to constitute the backbone of power generation. Using renewable energies as sole energy source could never satisfy the power requirement.

We are aware of our special responsibility with regard to environmental and climate protection. Apart from safeguarding the power supply it is important to us to make efficient use of the resources and to protect man and the environment. We for instance participate in research projects to discover innovative technologies and roads. Because every generation will have to find its own answers to the question what the future holds in store.
